Day-by-day itinerary
Drive times are approximate. Every tour is private, so we can change the order, add rest days or extend it.
Day 1: Arrival and Colombo
Airport pickup and a short Colombo city tour: Galle Face Green, Pettah market and Gangaramaya Temple.
Day 2: Colombo to Sigiriya
Drive to the Cultural Triangle (about 4 hours), stopping at Dambulla Cave Temple.
Day 3: Sigiriya and Polonnaruwa
Climb Sigiriya Rock early, then the ancient city of Polonnaruwa in the afternoon.
Day 4: Kandy
Drive to Kandy (about 2.5 hours) via a spice garden. Temple of the Tooth in the evening.
Day 5: Kandy to Nuwara Eliya
Royal Botanical Gardens, then up into tea country with a tea factory visit.
Day 6: Train to Ella
The hill country train from Nanu Oya to Ella (about 3 hours), then the Nine Arch Bridge.
Day 7: Ella to Yala
Drive down to Yala (about 2.5 hours) for an afternoon jeep safari.
Day 8: Yala to Galle
Optional dawn safari, then along the coast to Galle (about 3.5 hours). Evening in Galle Fort.
Day 9: South coast
A beach day: Unawatuna, stilt fishermen at Koggala, or whale watching from Mirissa in season.
Day 10: Departure
Drive back to the airport (about 2.5–3 hours).
